How has motorcycling changed you and your life?

[It makes me relax my mind and relieves of stress.I have developed the importance of patience and considerably increased its levels through my bike touring. The bike is considered almost like my little brother. But learnt that we should never abuse the machine as it has the capability to put us in trouble.]

How would you justify the inherent dangers and risk involved in long distance touring on motorcycles?

[Long distance touring is not an everyday commute. Its pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones and limits. We have to maintain a strong body and mind to undergo various weather and road conditions and tackle unexpected situations.Any discrepancy or fatigue could lead to dangers/risks as we are pushing our body and the bike to do things that we dont do everyday.]

Tell us briefly about your 2 most memorable motorcycle tours?

[>One of the most memorable ride would be with my friends Ganesh and Abilash to Kolli hills from bangalore.Had to traverse and maneuver through 70 hairpin bends to reach the top.Though our feet were strained, the ride was good and felt in heaven when we refreshed under the akashaganga waterfalls.
>Another ride would be with the rain gods soaking me wet through mist to valparai hills from bangalore. And getting immersed in the green beauty of the place in monsoon,so refreshing away from the madding city.]

As a motorcycle tourer, how have you contributed to the society/brotherhood and plan to do so in the years to come?

[Have not been able to play a big part, but indeed have taken the initiative to share views about polluting our nature with litter.I urge fellow riders and people i meet to carry their own garbage along and dispose them at appropriate designated places.Mostly in the hills with its untouched beauty there is no one to clean the places from plastic bags and bottles. It can also be hazardous to the animals in the area. Also insist the need to reduce speed biking and honking through national parks and reserved forest areas.we are in animal kingdom and its not fair to irritate them,we have lot of civilized animals in the city to do that.. :-) we have just enjoy and immerse ourselves in the serene beauty of the place and not trouble its inhabitants.]

What are the best and the worst things about motorcycle touring in India?

[Good]
>No need to pay toll for motorcycles:-)
>Hardly need permit to explore.(other than restricted areas)
>Can explore loads of offbeat places which are not developed and not easily accessible by four wheels.
>Can experience different cultures, tradition, cuisine, people and environment because of the diverse nature of our country.
>We have everything to push our limits and create a memorable ride- huge mountains, intimidating glacier valley, serence hills, rustic dessert, flat plains, green forests, enormous rivers and lakes.

[Bad]
>RULES are not standarised and can vary according the location.(sometimes can be a pain)
>Very little emergency and medical facility in most areas.(some thrilling locations hardly have any)
>Accessibility to service and fuel station have to be planned well in advance as most are fixed to a particular area.

How would you justify the inherent dangers and risk involved in riding on motorcycles?

Not everyone cares about the fellow road users.with a machine capable of high performance, sometimes a motorist may be carried away to push the machine to limits which may lead to accidents. And obviously with both feet upright and the motorcycle balanced only on its two wheels, there is a greater risk of leaning either side during risky situations and kissing the tarmac. Not all roads are of good condition and when we suddenly encounter some bad patches ,sometimes it becomes too late to maneuver through and end up get tossed in the air or slide through.Oil spills, wet roads, sand and gravel are all potential forms of devil testing our riding skills.Impulsive braking is also great drawback to riders with some amusing crazy people zigzagging in our roads.A proper protective gear doesnt guarantee total protection,it would only minimize the impact

Tell us briefly about your 2 most memorable life-incidents involving you as a motorcyclist?

[The accident of a speeding fellow rider changed my perception towards motorcycling and the need to curb speeding and protective gear being mandatory to lessen the dangers involved in riding.]
[Respecting the machine is another lesson learnt when i tried to push my bike to extreme conditions(bad roads, depriving it of breaks, revving too much, not doing prompt service checks) without caring about it,has made it do tit for tat to me, abandoning me in middle of no where]So the biggest thing we all should do is show care and respect out machine, not just showing all the care when it is new.]

As a motorcyclist, how have you contributed to the society/brotherhood and plan to do so in the years to come?

Sharing the necessity of protective riding gear. The risks involved in speeding.we aren't here for a long time but rather a good time, but that doesnt mean we have to speed things up.And it is necessary to abide by the rules and regulations of the road, not only for our safety but also for our fellow road users.

What are the best and the worst things about motorcycling in India?

[Good]
>Can zip through traffic congested roads better than four wheels.
>Easier to get a two wheeler license(can be a drawback to) and buy a motorcycle.
>Approx more than 40% road users have a motorcycle,so greater brotherhood of motorcycling fraternity.

[Bad]
>Bad roads and unexpected speed breakers.(worst during monsoon)
>Inconsistent road rules
>Anyone can get a license as,there is no standard check on skills of motorcycle riding.(Will end up as bugs on the road causing hindrance to others)
>Crowded cities and the huge population makes all the difference(getting stuck in the concrete jungle)
>The quality of fuel can vary.
