For you, what does it mean to be a motorcyclist?
For me its like a meditation,a symbol of freedom!!whenever i ride my motorcycle, it gives me a sense of pride and dignity.it tells me that i have the freedom to go anywhere anytime....
can you believe that i never drive my car ??my motorcycle uplift my mood anytime...i love being a motorcyclist.
How has motorcycling changed you and your life?
i have been a motorcyclist and a nature loving person since my childhood.i remember that i loved highways .i used to go on highways on my Hero Honda cd 100ss enjoying spectacular beauty of roadsides;green trees, small mud made tea stalls under the shade of a green tree ,small villages, narrow canals, yellow green mustard fields and people working there.
motocycling has shown me the path to go anywhere.i started searching places of natural beauty and my motorcycle always gave me the opportunity to enjoy the splendor of nature in its full view.
i love long distances because of my motor cycle...no other means of transportation comes in my mind ,only me and my motorcycle.
How would you justify the inherent dangers and risk involved in long distance touring on motorcycles?
yes here in india its very risky when you are on a motorcycle tour.here people don't have road etiquette.no serious test for driving license, its easily available to everybody here.Result, thousands of senseless drivers who think that they are the only drivers on the roads. They are the biggest danger.
so when we are on a long distance touring , we are always very alert, give our maximum attention on the road .we keep an eye on all turns as anybody can come at a good speed without caring for himself and others.
night driving should b avoided as most of the drivers (especially truck) are drunk .many people turn on high beams of their vehicle so sometimes you cant see a bicycle rider or a pedestrian or a big pit,so night driving should be avoided.
slow down whenever you reach a town or village or school.
Tell us briefly about your 2 most memorable motorcycle tours?
first was the tour of uttrakhand which we did in 2010 covering NAINITAL,BHIMTAL ,MUKTESHWAR,RANIKHET,LANSDOWNE,DHANAULTI,CHAMBA AND TIHRI.
second is tour of himachal pradesh which we completed in 2012 .our route was :LUCKNOW,DELHI,CHANDIGARH,SHIMLA,MANDI,KULLU ,MANALI AND FINALLY ROHTANG LA PASS.
As a motorcycle tourer, how have you contributed to the society/brotherhood and plan to do so in the years to come?
i have been the part of many rides which were focused on safe riding.but inthe future i will do some activities at my own.
What are the best and the worst things about motorcycle touring in India?
Best part is "the diversity"; of nature ,people ,religions ,foods, geographical climate.planes rivers, mountain ,sea, desert everything is here.so you can enjoy everything while on your motorcycle.
worst part is the; people lacking of driving sense and road etiquette, they have no control over their rage.they never try to understand that rules of the roads are made so that everybody can move on the road without any problem.
Golden Question : How do you feel when you ride?
That's beyond words but i try to explain.i feel like........excited, am in a good mood....like a free soul....
