Chennai Brotherhood Of Riders
For your club, what does motorcycling stand for?
We Started this club in July 2011 and the response has been overwhelming .As we see loads of manufacturers are launching bigger cc’s motorcycles , it is very important to get basic etiquettes right. As a group we want to make difference to the society in what we do . One of the main priority of this club is “Safety” . Motorcycling for our club is the means for our members to relieve themselves by touring or racing (only at the track) with paramount safety for themselves and others.
Tell us briefly about the motorcycling ethics followed collectively by your club especially when related to practicing and promoting safe motorcycling?
We have laid out simple but effective guidelines which everyone follows like mandatory helmet and promotion of riding gear. safe riding practices especially when riding in groups and communication to warn each other of safety hazards on the road via hand signals. General care for the public on road and making relations as we explore more.We want people to experience it not to just dream about it.
How would you justify the inherent dangers and risk involved in riding motorcycles?
Everything in our life has a cost attached to it and so does motorcycling while it offers FREEDOM and a chance to step out of the monotonous life in the cities it also has hazards as there is a general lack of road sense especially in the rural areas. It is our belief that by wearing safety gear following speed limits and riding in groups much of these dangers can be minimized to a great extent. Group riding is becoming more popular these days as its an adventure where we get to explore more places . Group riding is not who races first , its about being disciplined follow all the rules.
Tell us briefly about the 2 most memorable/important motorcycling events organized by or participated in by your club?
Every event is memorable to us ! Every ride is an unforgettable one ! Every destination is beautiful ! We have our Endurance Ride covering a distance of about 600kms covering interior of Tamil Nadu and then we have our Amriti falls ride near Tada ! We have our meet and greet every month in a popular place in the city ! We have our very own whatsapp group !
How has your motorcycling club contributed to the society/brotherhood and plan to do so in the years to come?
Our vision is " Safety First " . That is what it was when we started the club and that's how its going to be in future too ! The club has made the members to understand the importance of safety . Its not just a club only for riding and learning but we have also made great friends . We wish and hope this would encourage a lot of other people to be part of us .We have taken a step to promoting safe touring and hardly manufactures does little to promote riding our group has made it a lot easier for newbie riders to get accustomed to their bikes and guide them on how to be safe to themselves and others.
What are the best and the worst things about motorcycling in India?
Some of the best things in India are that it’s a huge country with lots of different terrains left to be explored and one is totally free to explore the far corners of the country and our expanding road network has definitely made it easier to reach places which were once upon a time impossible to reach. But although our roads are improving the people perception still needs a change especially towards motorcycling and still riding a motorcycle in India remains to be dangerous thanks to insensible people on roads. Also motorcycling is still growing and remains confined to cities majorly maybe in the coming few years it will be much more far spread.
