For you, what does it mean to be a motorcyclist?

Being a motorcyclist gives a whole new identity to me !!!
As I work in Software industry(24x7 support project, Capgemini-Bangalore)so like all software professionals I have to work till late night but while returning from office, as soon as I hold the handles of my baby blade I tend to forget the issues that I faced in the morning or the number of incidents that I resolved for the day !!!
Traveling to long weekend tours is the one thing that I always look forward to. I (along with my younger brother) have traveled from Bangalore to Berhampur-Bhubaneswar-Puri in Dec 2012 on my CBR250R . I am also one of the active members of the biking brotherhood Bangalore CBR250R Riders. I have joined many group rides in the past.I will continue the legacy in future too . So in short "I am a Software consultant by profession but a biker by CHOICE " !!!

How has motorcycling changed you and your life?

Earlier amongst my friends , I was just a guy who used to work in Capgemini. But now i am well known as the guy who rode a CBR from Bangalore to Bhubaneswar because of the ride did in DECEMBER-2012.
I have now understood the passion of biking and have learned how to love the machine that gives you so much fun !!!
I had traveled Bangalore to BBSR by Train but the bike ride gave me a whole other experience of Journey. The fun of riding the bike at speed of 150kph , the experience of continuous riding for 28 hours , the riding experience through rain and bone chilling winter breeze has actually made me to see the roads from a different angle and with respect !!!
In future I have planned to ride to different places in India on my CBR. Riding to Mumbai /Goa /Chennai /Trivandrum /Pondycheri /Kanyakumari etc are currently on top of my list.

How would you justify the inherent dangers and risk involved in long distance touring on motorcycles?

Always Safety comes first then comes the speed !!
So unless you are racing for your life don't go over speeding , always maintain a speed of 100-120 max while going on long tours this will also save you from accident.
Obey traffic rules and learn the proper usage of indicators .
I would prefer at least one partner rider to accompany you during the ride as the backup !!
Always be prepared for rain and early morning cold breeze and do keep a first aid kit with you!!
Check your condition along with your BIKE as both the rider and ride need to be in good shape before along ride !!

Tell us briefly about your 2 most memorable motorcycle tours?

I (along with my younger brother) have traveled from Bangalore to Berhampur,Odisha in Dec 2012 on my CBR250R . It took us almost 28hrs to cover the 1300kms of which we could cover only 300kms in first 11 hrs because of the rain, then we crossed the next 1000kms in 17 hrs .At one point of time due to heavy rain i even thought of turning back to Bangalore and sleep off the weekend but i held my nerves and completed the journey . Now my friends see me as a legend !!! :P

The second memorable ride was the group ride to Settihalli Church ,Hassan ,KA with my fellow Bangalore CBR250R Rider groups in Feb-2013.It was my 1st group ride which involved more than 60 CBR250R bikes at once. We took almost one day (6am -6pm) to go to Hassan and ride back to Bangalore and covered approximately 500km in total.

As a motorcycle tourer, how have you contributed to the society/brotherhood and plan to do so in the years to come?

In all of our rides "Safety First" is our primary motto and we explain the same to the new people that we come across .
In my personal view "A rider should always respect the laws of GRAVITY and FRICTION" because if you don't obey the laws no ABS technology or Protective gears can save you from getting serious injury !!!

Golden Question : How do you feel when you ride?

Well that's a tough question !!! I usually don't feel like riding rather I usually feel like i am traveling with my partner .I feel like me and my CBR are inseparable from each other !!! I always love her and respect her !!! I want to quote one of the comments that have used earlier- " As I work in Software industry(24x7 support project, Capgemini-Bangalore)so like all software professionals I have to work till late night but while returning from office, as soon as I hold the handles of my baby blade I tend to forget the issues that I faced in the morning or the number of incidents that I resolved for the day !!! " Hence you can say I am a Software consultant by PROFESSION but a biker by CHOICE !!!
