For you, what does it mean to be a motorcyclist?

Being an inherent part of the whole landscape! Someone who becomes more aware of the surrounding. All of the sudden I become a different person with awakened sixth sense. Becoming more responsible towards myself and others on the road.

How has motorcycling changed you and your life?

I've begun to consider my physical well-being a lot more seriously as I realize that how lucky I am being able to ride my 350cc Micjac.

How would you justify the inherent dangers and risk involved in long distance touring on motorcycles?

To me the worst and most dangerous part of long distance riding is the occasional drowsiness that hits the riders. Other than this, most of the dangerous situations can be taken care of by cautious riding and awakening the sixth sense and becoming more aware of the situation.

Tell us briefly about your 2 most memorable motorcycle tours?

1. Obviously the first trip on my new Thunderbird (with my childhood friend on pillion) to Landsdowne (video link attached), a small hill station near Delhi.

2. The circular trip (Delhi-Shimla-Nako-Kaza-Komic-Losar-Leh-Srinagar-Jammu-Delhi) which I undertook along with my best rider friend. On this trip two of us covered almost 3800 kms in 14 days!

As a motorcycle tourer, how have you contributed to the society/brotherhood and plan to do so in the years to come?

Haven't contributed much to the society as a motorcycle tourer; however while on a trip I've always ensured that I stop and help the fellow riders in every possible way (like giving away engine oils, clutch-wires, tubes etc). Somehow I'd like to propagate one particular message to youngsters to take bike-riding as a serious affair, being safe and keeping others safe.

What are the best and the worst things about motorcycle touring in India?

Best thing: People we meet (while we're on a motorcycle trip) tend to take us more seriously as a travelers. I am saying this because whenever I needed some help while on a trip, I've got it more than I ever expected.
Worst thing: Till date I've never experienced anything bad while riding a motorcycle.
